Hard to obtain pets?
Pay what, 20k and you can get a spider. A person could be ran though the game to get any pet (just need a decent guild or alliance really).
Editing first post for better clarity and specifics.

Instead of 'eggs' pets could be converted into 'tickets' in tamers.
The tamer would save the pet, and give it to the owner of th ticket.
You sell the ticket, and you sell the pet...
The ticket would show type (default name, shows evolution), name (given name) and level.
Would that work?

No to any sort of selling or trading in precious pet flesh.
Whether it be direct, "eggs", or tickets.

Really? You are mistaken...
Pokémon:
#Based on skills and atributes.
#A wide variety of skills, but you can have only few of them at the same time.
#You travel around the world, unlocking areas you can get to anytime later.
#You have to catch them all.
Guild Wars.
#Based on attributes.
#A wide variety of skills, but you can have only few of them at the same time.
#You travel around the world, unlocking areas you can get to anytime later.
#[wiki]Signet of Capture[/wiki]
Yeah... not even similar in any way... hehe... XD
The thing is that getting a pet is slower than it should be.
It is still 'Old Prophecies speed'.
Factions speed was ... to hasty...
But Guild Wars is now Nightfall speed. Nightfall speed is nice now. Get things in thre days.

I would love to be able to have more than just one pet. I hate to have to decide wether I would like to have the phoenix, the spider or my beloved warthog.
But trading them is not a good idea. This destroys the special connection to you pet.
I don't like the idea of having them in the bags. But switching them by going to the tamer is a good thing.
Maybe there could be also a mini-quest to get to the one and only place where you can collect your pets and exchange them (as said before: a mini-zoo).

I liek the idea of being able to collect all the various pets in GW, and to be able to reuse them time and time again
However i don't like the idea of sellign them or tradign them, as others state this mens you have no real conection to your own pet.
at the mo my main character has a black moa, but i want to be able to train up the phenix and get a black spider eventually to put in my hall, don;t want to lose them though.
/signed for storing pets
/unsigned for trading and transfer to GW2
GW2 transfer is silly, if my characterws are dead then my pets most certainly will be, well unless its a turtle they live for hundreds of years lol

I really would prefer them not being tradable.
The best proposition I've heard about pets was replacing charm animal with charmed white wolf once you charmed a pet.
Then you could equip any previously charmed animal or equip charm animal and to charm another one.
It would be kind of like the kennel idea, except the pet's are stuck in your skilllist as charmed animals.

Like the Signet of Capture, they would all show up in your skills list and you choose, that way you could have multiple pets.

Quite possibly one of the best solutions to the ongoing "Stable" problem I've ever seen.
If this was to be implemented: /signed.
